Transformative opportunities for young people
Young Storyhouse creates transformative opportunities for young people (aged 5-25) in the local community, by harnessing the power of arts and creativity. Develop your creative skills, take over the programming of our spaces, gain work experience or collaborate with us on a project.
What do Young Storyhouse do?
Young Storyhouse runs creative courses, groups, sessions and projects that provide young people with real-life experience, and supports them to gain new skills and build friendships.
Storyhouse Young Company (for ages 18-25)
Storyhouse Young Company (SYC) is a free 6-month training programme for 18-25 year olds who are interested in performing. You’ll get the opportunity to develop theatre and performance skills supported by professional artists and directors, and to create and perform in a production at Storyhouse.
Young Film Programmers
Young Storyhouse: skills development
Young Film Programmers is for young people who are interested in the film and cinema industry to tell us what they want from their local cinema. By planning a cinema event, weekend or festival, you’ll get practical experience, job skills, and the chance to create events at Storyhouse and be part of decisions about what’s on screen.
Young Leaders
Young Storyhouse: skills development
Young Leaders is for young people aged 14-25 who need extra support getting into work or volunteering. There are three Young Leaders programmes for you to choose the one that would suit you best. In Young Leaders, you’ll connect with other young people, discover your passion and develop job skills with mentoring, training and practical opportunities to grow and create.
The Agency
Young Storyhouse: skills development
Storyhouse teamed up with The Agency to give young people in Lache agency to make a mark on their community. Young people get support and financial investment to create lasting positive change and develop skills.
Young Storyhouse: cinema
BFI Film Academy is a short course at Storyhouse, in partnership with the British Film Institute. You’ll learn about the film industry, create film festivals and meet experts. BFI Film Academy is not currently running due to funding, but check back here for future updates.
