A powerful and relatable Mancucian drama, full of grit and edge, that doesn’t shy away from tough subjects and shocking moments, that is also shot with heart, warmth, humour, and most importantly, hope.

Set against the backdrop of the iconic Manchester skyline, Treading Water tells the story of Danny as he is released from prison into the tough reality of supported housing, trying to take control of his life whilst grappling with the mental health issues that have shaped him. A chance encounter with a past love becomes an obsession that leads to tragic consequences. It’s a story of how choices are often limited to what’s right in front of you—even when that means having no choice at all. And how, ultimately, we are all just trying to get by each day, even if sometimes it feels like we’re only treading water.

This screening will be followed by a Q&A with Treading Water writer/director Gino Evans.
