This month’s Reel Talk Presents screening – as voted by you! – is scriptwriter Shane Black’s 1996 adrenaline-rush The Long Kiss Goodnight.
Geena Davis stars as both an iconic maternal figure and a feminist action hero in this smart and sharp-witted action-thriller.
When small-town schoolteacher and single mother Samantha Caine begins experiencing violent memories that don’t match up with her suburban meringue pie baking lifestyle, she enlists the help of down-on-his-luck private detective Mitch Hennessy (Samuel L. Jackson) to investigate her mysterious past.
After suffering a brief concussion in a car accident, Samantha recovers with unexplainable newfound fighting skills and leaves with Mitch amidst the winter holidays in pursuit of answers.
Samantha soon uncovers her former life as an elite government assassin named Charly. As her long-forgotten past catches up to her, Samantha/Charly must rescue her young daughter Caitlin from ruthless rogue agents who are plotting a chemical attack on Niagara Falls.
