Workshop: Writing Makaton symbols
Storyhouse Elders: Writing Workshops
Event details
Part of: Storyhouse Elders
Makaton is a unique language programme that uses symbols, signs and speech to enable people with communication difficulties to communicate. It supports the development of essential communication skills such as attention and listening, comprehension, memory, recall and organisation of language and expression.
Makaton symbols are widely used in public buildings such as schools, hospitals, courts and libraries, to help people find their way around. So, you may be using Makaton in daily life without even knowing it!
In this session you will learn some of the basic symbols and discover how you can use the language to help you and others.
