How To Befriend Your Inner Critic When You’re Not A Parent

Event details

This is a practical, informative, and interactive workshop providing a space for non-parents, covering what the inner critic is, why we have them and how we can befriend them, so that we’re working together rather than battling them all the time.

When we either choose, or we lose that choice to have children, the inner critic that has been shaped by societal and familial expectations can increase in volume and viciousness. This combination can leave us frozen in fear, stuck in a critical maelstrom that paralyses and leaves us unable to move forward.

Learning to befriend and work with the inner critic can free us from this frozen state allowing us the space to explore who we are as non-parents, giving us the capacity to develop and grow free of shame and guilt that may not be our own.

This 45-minute workshop will cover the following:

  • Identifying what the inner critic is telling us individually and collectively
  • What purpose the inner critic serves and where it comes from
  • How to work with the inner critic through visualisation
  • Interactive exercises to help the group see themes, the origin of those themes and to work with their own inner critic
  • Group reflection time
