One Minute

Part of: Chester International Film Festival 2025 (CIFF25)

A chance to experience how a single minute can transcend its temporal constraints to convey various themes and nuances in experimental film.

Over the past 16 years, artist-filmmaker Kerry Baldry has been curating and distributing One Minute (volumes 1 – 12)  an innovative series of artists’ moving image programmes by artists at varying stages of their careers. These experimental works thoughtfully engage with the concept of time in cinema, challenging traditional narratives and exploring how much can be conveyed within sixty seconds. The programmes showcase an eclectic mix of work from artists at various stages of their careers, ranging from award-winning filmmakers to recent graduates.

A selection of films from these programmes have been compiled for the Chester International Film Festival 2025 and include work by award winning filmmakers, Turner prize winners through to recent graduates.
