Goddesses-A History with Jasmine Elmer
HISTFEST AND STORYHOUSE PRESENT
Event details
Steeped in ancient magic, dark divinity and wild ways, prepare for a historical journey like no other as ancient history expert, broadcaster and author Jasmine Elmer transports audiences through time to bring ten formidable and inspiring ancient goddesses to life.
Drawing from her critically acclaimed debut book, Goddess with a Thousand Faces, in this richly illustrated event, Jasmine will introduce audiences to Artemis, the Greek goddess of the wilderness, never without her bow and arrow; Sedna, Inuit goddess of the ocean, guarding the icy waters and all its creatures; Isis, Egyptian goddess of healing, who dwells by the River Nile and more. While their stories might be ancient, today they are more important – and more powerful – than ever. The event is chaired by HistFest founder, Rebecca Rideal.
About Jasmine Elmer
A straight-talking expert in ancient cultures, author and presenter Jasmine Elmer is passionate about opening up this knowledge to everyone in an engaging, inspiring way.
She has appeared on Channel 4, Channel 5, and National Geographic. Her debut non-fiction work; GODDESS WITH A THOUSAND FACES; was published in October 2024 to critical acclaim. A bold feminist exploration of world goddesses, blending storytelling with historical fact, all peppered with Jasmine’s unique tone and approach. Of dual heritage, she grew up on a council estate in East London, but now lives in Exeter, Devon with her husband and son. When she has some down time, she loves spending time in nature, curling up with a good book, and having a laugh with her friends. She flits between meditation and being frazzled. Such is life.
