Art of Action: Careers Talk + Polite Society

A special Q&A event programmed exclusively for local education providers for those aged 16-18

Event details

As part of the BFI national Art of Action Season, Storyhouse are delighted to welcome stunt-performer-turned-director Matt Routledge for a special Q&A event programmed exclusively for local education providers for those aged 16-18.

Matt has been working in film and television since the late 1990s as a stunt performer and co-ordinator, and now film director.

With a specialism in Martial Arts, Matt will discuss his career path from enthusiast to professional and shine a light on how to get involved in this area of film and TV through sharing his personal career journey.

The talk will be followed by a screening of Polite Society.

A mash-up of sisterly affection, parental disappointment and bold action, Polite Society follows martial artist-in-training Ria Khan who believes she must save her older sister Lena from her impending marriage.

After enlisting the help of her friends Ria attempts to pull off the most ambitious of all wedding heists in the name of independence, sisterhood, and being true to one’s dreams.

This event has been produced in partnership with The Fighting Spirit Film Festival.
Art of Action is a UK-wide film season supported by National Lottery and BFI Film Audience Network (FAN).
