Storyhouse Women Weekend has been curated by a diverse group of women representing various ages, heritages and socioeconomic backgrounds in Chester and is a collective effort to address urgent issues, celebrate diverse narratives and create momentum.
We want to transform these crucial conversations and connections into collective empowerment as we work towards a more equitable world.
FAQs
Everyone! Whether you would like to gain a deeper understanding of a particular topic or support the women in your life, please come along.
We encourage young women and girls to attend, and those aged 16-25 can even take advantage of our Young Storyhouse Card discount – sign up for FREE here.
Storyhouse is proudly trans-inclusive, and all of the organisations that we are collaborating with share this commitment to inclusivity.
Yes – childcare responsibilities shouldn’t be a barrier for anyone wishing to attend. Children and babes in arms are more than welcome to attend any of the talks in the Storyhouse Theatre or Garret Theatre, but we would advise not bringing children to the smaller workshops where space may be limited.
Storyhouse Women is an informal festival, where you can come and go as you need to.
We understand that some of the topics being discussed may be triggering for some.
Following on from most events, the speakers will be around to answer any further questions in the Garret Bar for approx 30 minutes. Audiences are also encouraged to move to the space to meet like-minded people and continue the conversation.
If chatting isn’t your thing, then you can spend some time at the creative arts table with Lisa Rosetti and artists from Radiate Arts who will be on hand to offer arts expertise to journal, create or simply doodle whilst you spend some down time.
Please note, the Garret Bar will be used as a socialising space throughout the weekend, but will not be open for food or drinks.
Storyhouse is for everyone.
In order for us to be able to come together to be creative, to celebrate ourselves and each other there are a few ground rules to ensure that everyone feels as welcome and comfortable as possible at all times.
- Please treat everyone with dignity and respect and without prejudice toward any protected characteristic.
- Please be respectful of and try not to make assumptions about the identities and experiences of performers, participants, and staff at the event, or any other visitors to the building.
- Do not attend any event with the intention of sharing hateful or derogatory opinions, or engaging in behaviour that is likely to cause harm to others.
- If you have any concerns please raise them with one of our volunteers or members of staff.
- Anyone behaving in a way that doesn’t uphold these values will be asked to leave the event.
